When Brian and Candace started dating in 2006, they would often end their date nights outside of a Sonic Drive-thru, ordering a Cherry Liime-Aid and a Diet Dr. Pepper with coconut cream.  Fast forward to 2010, they were married with two little active boys and living in Henderson, Nevada where Brian was attending medical school. With budgets tight, and time together always feeling too short, they would often find themselves back in a parking spot outside of a Sonic Drive-thru during ordering those same two drinks from the early years of dating, but now with two kids size ocean waters added to the order ticket.  For Brian and Candace, getting a soda together has always been more about the time together than it is about the actual drink.

Soon after Brian and Candace found themselves moving to Idaho, for Brian’s first job outside of medical school and residency, they realized that the soda shop concept had expanded significantly since their Sonic Drive-thru days. 

Candace made up her mind that she wanted to be a part of providing the “getting a drink together” experience that she found to be nostalgic for her family for so many years.  She got busy creating a business plan, concepting branding, and trying soda flavors and drink combinations.  In 2020, Hip Sip Drinks was born.  With two locations in Idaho Falls, and others currently under construction, Hip Sip serves over 1,000 drinks a day. Since opening, Hip Sip has stayed focused on its mission of human connection through carbonation, the only thing filtered is our water.

The impact and connections that have been made by the customers and the team at Hip Sip made it apparent to Candace that there is a need and opportunity to extend the reach of the brand.  In December of 2023, Hip Ship Box was created as a way to box up the Hip Sip Drinks experience and deliver it right to someone’s door.
